We missed the part where the Mayor came by to officially proclaim "Verace Pizza Napoletana Week" in Seattle -- but we're okay with that, actually. We
are sorry we missed the part where the officials from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana came by to certify two of our favorite restaurants as authentic Neapolitan pizzerias. We imagine these gentlemen in white coats, with calipers and clipboards. But we did get there in time to see Jeannie O'Brien & Ken Selander's office-to-be, listen to the strains of an Italian acoustic duo in the courtyard, and sample (or gorge on, in some cases) Tutta Bella's Pizza Margherita.

It was lovely to see this space -- between the front & back halves of Rob Mohn's brick building on Edmonds -- full of people and laughter and music, with a big wood-fired oven turning out pizza at one end, and the O'Brien sisters pouring the vino. If the Verace Piazza Urbana Bellissima auditors had come by, they'd have rated this scene A-1 for sure.
