After taking the gold medal for Most Farewell Parties (each more BYO than the last as the house was gradually emptied of dishes & furniture; we wound up sprawled on blankets eating pasta with our fingers at the last one), Lexi and Jenny finally drove off into the sunset today, headed for Oakland. They left behind two plaid skirts, two dead laptops, a pair of sneakers, a Buckeyes T-shirt, a silver mannequin named Guy, an air raid warden helmet, a guidebook to the Azores, and some extremely sad relatives.
Fortunately we were able to document the following moment from our last dinner with Lexi (an event not included in the Farewell Party Count). Don't ask us to describe how exactly our family came to be behaving in this manner -- it's a little hard to reconstruct even for those of us who were there.
Jenny, unfortunately, missed all the hullabaloo -- we would love to have seen her contribution.
We plan to manage our Aunt Lexi Withdrawal Symptoms by starting off each day with a viewing of this video. We are posting it here as a public service so all you non-Oakland residents out there can do the same.
