Heliotropic Journey Begins

Beautiful plumage, spotted along Lake Washington Boulevard the Sunday before Thanksgiving during a long walk in the rain spent mostly wishing I'd figured out a way to stockpile the surfeit of sun we got this summer:

Deb's sun stockpiling method, spotted in the hall at school after Simon's teacher conference on Monday, right before we went home to pack for our trip to Los Angeles:

Oddly turkey-like, vaguely carrot-esque, unmistakably tropical Bird of Paradise, spotted in the driveway upon arriving at Andrew's mother's house in Altadena on Tuesday, as the kids leaped out of the car and sprinted for the swimming pool:

Let the sun worship begin!
