Heart Spotting

We missed the Hillman City Heart Hunt this year, but all week we've had our eyes peeled for coronary visions in the 'hood. We captured a couple of them at Bryan's birthday party -- a two-phased affair that began at the Tamarind Tree and finished up with a throng of Mead Streeters & assorted in-laws eating cheesecake (made, as Aly said, by "all the females in the family, plus Josie") while cheering on Apollo Ohno and J.R. Celski in the speed skating heats.

The ladies had borrowed our spring-form pan (heart-shaped, as luck would have it) for this delicious birthday/Valentine creation:

It was as Aly was cutting the cake into thirteen slices for the assembled revelers that a second heart shape suddenly appeared, formed by the birthday boy and his lovely wife -- who, we might add, have been together more than half his forty-four years:

Congratulations, Bryan -- on the birthday, the wife, the kids, the whole beautiful catastrophe!

And a Happy Valentines Day to everyone.
