A Persuasive Essay
by Simon
Okay, the expression is, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Well, I do not agree with this at all. I mean seriously -- say you’re going to read a book to a baby. Are you going to read “Evil Clown Terrorist”? No! You’re going to read “Mr. Fuzzy Bear Goes to Rainbow Land.” And that, my friend, is judging a book by its cover.
Okay, I know what you’re thinking: it’s not literally about a book! But still, the same principles apply with a person. Like, you’re at the park and you don’t have a phone. You need a phone to call your mom. Do you ask the stranger that told you to get in his car? No! You ask the mom sitting next to you with a baby in her arms.
See, we do it all the time without knowing it. I bet you do it all the time too.
Judging is how our species survived all these years. Like, you don’t eat the apple that’s brown with a worm. You eat the red fresh apple. Other animals can’t do that. You think worms pick what they eat? No! That’s why millions of worms die from food poisoning every year.
