So it turns out that 11 year old girls don't hold still long enough to be photographed, particularly when the flash on your camera is on the fritz.

(Of course, neither does anyone else at Skate King.)

The evidence suggests, however, that they may become slightly less mobile when you sit them down at a long table, offer them alarmingly greasy pizza, mysterious "non-dairy ice cream," and root beer, and then put a flaming birthday cake in front of them. (P.S. She got her wish.)
Field research confirms that they are not any quieter at 2 am than they were at 11 pm, or midnight, or 1 am, especially when eight of them are crammed into a small dark room with a DVD player, five batches of microwave popcorn, and unquantifiable bottles of nail polish.

Unfortunately we have been unable to determine whether a causal relationship can be established between any of the experimental variables and the resulting high levels of good cheer, sartorial flair, and political engagement (the signs read "Vote Obama"). Was it the sleep deprivation? The nail polish fumes? The petrochemical frozen dessert? The centrifugal roller-rink effect?
Further investigation is required.
