Department of Big Ugly Metal Things Plopped Down at Random

Rushed into school the other day late to pick up the kids and nearly crashed into this item parked in the foyer:

Had to stop and gape for a second: How did they get this thing in here? It is slightly wider and significantly taller than any of the doors into this room. If it folds up any shorter, it wasn't at all clear how -- and it seems unlikely that they would have cranked it taller again before getting it (somehow) out of the foyer and down the hall, where it was ultimately headed. (According to the custodian they were planning to use it to reach -- and hopefully repair -- the ceiling tiles in the gym.) And it seems even more unlikely that it came down those stairs, doesn't it? It was like one of those pranks where you open the door to your dorm room and your VW bug is sitting there, with the engine running.

Well, whatever magic the maintenance department employed to get the Genie GS-2632 in here was apparently repeated overnight: next morning it was gone.

Unfortunately this kind of ingenuity was not employed in the siting of these two electrical boxes directly in front of the new greenhouse.

And we doubt they'll be vanishing anytime soon, either.

Sigh.
