Congratulations, Perk & Monica!

Our friends David Perk and Monica celebrated their wedding this weekend. (The actual ceremony took place earlier this summer on the East Coast, but they wanted to give their West Coast friends a party too.) Perk and Andrew go way back -- back to the early '80s, when they shared a loft on Grand Street on the Lower East Side. Several of the old NY crew showed up for the weekend, which started off Friday afternoon with beers in the treehouse:

and moved on to an evening of bachelor debauchery to which your correspondent was (fortunately, probably) not privy...

Saturday we all spent the day at Carkeek Park enjoying sun, barbecue, frisbee, stomp rockets, croquet (played by us), and cricket (played by a raucous group of Pakistanis at the other end of the field). We loved the way the stomp rockets sent the swarm of kids swirling all over the field like marbles on a tilt-a-whirl:

The intensities of the croquet game proved difficult to capture on film; fortunately Josie managed to impose her own unique vision on the proceedings, once Mikala gave up the camera.

Sunday wound down slowly at our house, bringing the second generation full circle:

All in all a lovely weekend, and clearly indicative of many years of happiness ahead for Perk & Monica. Congratulations, you two!
